Department of laws, GNDU holds first Alumni Meet-2015

Amritsar, 31 Jan (Punjab Post Bureau) – Department of Laws GNDU Amritsar organized the maiden alumni meet. More than three hundred, highly accomplished ex students attended the gala event, held in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium. Ex students from most of the districts of Punjab and even abroad were present,in the event that was the result of initiative launched  by Prof (Dr) Viney Kapoor Mehra,Head of the Department. Prof(Dr) Ajaib Singh Brar Vice Chancellor was the Chief Guest. Among distinguished alumni present, were Mrs Laxmi Kant Chawla ex cabinet minister, Prof HS Soch ex Vice Chancellor, Prof Kashmir Singh ex Dean Faculty of Law, Sethi ji President Bar Association,Dr Gurjeet Singh twice Vice Chancellor of National Law Universities (currently Dean of the Department),Prof(Dr) Rajinderjit Kour Pawar and many legal luminaries. The glitterati also included Naveen Puri, Upender ji,Dr Subash,Dr Ranjit,Mr Grover, Randeep Waraich, Rajinder Singh, Saurab Khurana, Harsimran Raghu and Ambika ji among others.

The event commenced with felicitations to the distinguished alumni followed by cultural programme by students, narration of experiences by senior alumni, interaction with alumni and a Vote of Thanks by Dr Rattan Singh.  While thanking their teachers, speakers  delved into the strong legal base and professionalism that the Department had bestowed upon them.  They also shared the anecdotes of their student days, which was the most interesting part of the event. Most of the speakers promised to strive for contributing in the joint development of their alma mater. Alumi exhorted the students to devote their profession to  service of the needy and also bring legal studies closer to the challenges on ground. Dr Subodh Dean Alumni and  Prof(Dr) Viney Kapoor Mehra, Head of the Department, promised to hold the Alumni Meet every year.
