Takes stock of various Develoment Works & Welfare Schemes
Tarn Taran, Oct. 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The people of Punjab would be provided with a transparent administration and the officers too would be made accountable.” This was disclosed by the Cabinet Minister, Punjab cum Incharge District Tarn Taran Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu during a meeting of the district officers held to take stock of the various developmental works and welfare schemes being run in the district.
The minister said that an amount of Rs. 19 crore is being released soon to disburse pensions to the beneficiaries. Elaborating more, he said that to ensure that the benefits of atta-dal scheme, pension facility and other schemes accrue to the needy people, special camps would be held after the formation of clusters by the district administration taking concerned MLAs into confidence. The eligible beneficiaries would then be identified and associated with various welfare centric schemes of the Government. He also divulged that apart from this, free toilets are being constructed for the needy people under the Swachh Bharat campaign. The minister also directed the officers of the district administration to expand the base of MGNREGA scheme and bring every deserving farmer and labourer under its ambit.
Mr. Sidhu further added that the lack of specialist doctors as well as teachers in the district has come to light and the needful would soon be done. He also said that besides constructing the new buildings of the schools the repair of the old ones would also be undertaken. The minister also disclosed that serious thought would be given to the suggestion of recruitments at district level to fulfill the shortfall of teachers in the border areas.
On the occasion while interacting with the media-persons, Mr. Sidhu said that the people of Punjab would be provided with a clean administration after the decade long misrule of the previous SAD-BJP Government. Divulging more, he said that the paddy procurement is going on smoothly throughout the state under the guidance of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh and the payments are being made online to the farmers within 48 hours of the purchase of their produce. He further said that the State Government is serious about solving the problem being faced by the farmers in taking care of the stubble and also that in due course a solution to the problem would be found to mitigate the lot of farmers. On the occasion, MLA Tarntaran Dr. Dharambir Agnihotri, MLA Khemkaran Mr. Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, MLA Patti Mr. Harminder Singh Gill, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal and various departmental heads were also present.
Apart from this, Mr. Sidhu also today also initiated the Solid Waste Management Programme from Municipal Council Patti. Under the scheme, the waste would be collected from the doorstep of the people. The minister also exhorted the people to keep their surroundings clean and green. He also a grant to the tune of Rs. 2 crore for the 4 gates to be constructed on 4 sides of Patti city. Mr. Sidhu further elaborated that the Solid Waste Management Programme would be initiated in all the Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils of the State. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal divulged that dustbins are being distributed to every home so as to ease the garbage collection from each doorstep. Among other dignitaries, SDM Patti Mr. Surinder Singh was also present.
