Independence Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at Khalsa Institutions

PPN1608201811Amritsar, 16 August (Punjab Post Bureau)- The students of Khalsa College, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College for Women, Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) and Khalsa College Public School (Heir) celebrated the completion of 71 years of independence by hoisting of national flag. The flag was hoisted at Guru Teg Bahadur College by Khalsa College Governing Council hopnourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina in presence of Principal Nanak Singh. Principals including Dr. Mehal Singh, AS Gill and Gurjit Singh Sethi hoisted the flags at their respective institution amidst the rendition of National Anthem. PPN1608201810

 

Chhina while addressing gathering of members, officials, faculty members, students and their families spoke about uniqueness and richness of India’s history and culture and appreciated the efforts of students for celebrating the day with great enthusiasm. A number of performances were displayed by the students who wearing the colorful dresses celebrated the cultural diversity of India. Teachers and students conveyed the important message of patriotism and national spirit through role plays, poetry recitals, dance and rendering of songs.  Historical plays on the lives and sacrifices made by the freedom fighters naming “Dekh Shahidan Di Kurbani” and “Parnam Shaheedan Nu” were the main attraction of the I-day celebration at Khalsa Institutions.

 

The students took a pledge to make their country free from poverty, terrorism, casteism and the vicious web of corruption. A documentary showcasing glimpses of important monuments in the country, national and religious symbols and costumes, folk dances, folk art and festivals, glimpses of technical advancements and industrialization, freedom fighters, and India’s Nobel Laureates was also unfurled in the campus on this occasion. The special assembly of the students to commemorate the day created an ambience of patriotism.
