Amritsar, May 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Apart from taking online classes and helping students, the teaching faculty of DAV College, Amritsar is attending webinars and participating in different lectures and workshops through online modes. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that we are encouraging our faculty to attend lectures and workshops during this lockdown period through online modes and inspiring them for teaching upgradation methods through webinars and also through interaction with faculty across world. The lockdown period has given the teachers a chance to interact with faculty all over the world and helped them to share skills and knowledge with people around globe.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar shared that we are in constant touch with the latest developments happening during COVID19 pandemic especially in education sector. Lots of changes are seen happening in education sector where everything is going online from teaching to learning to assessment. In order that our teaching faculty is abreast with these developments and innovations, they all are attending different online courses and webinars that will help them further in teaching students. The faculty members are attending lectures and workshops ranging from subject specific topics to general skill development programmes designed to counter problems resulting from COVID19 pandemic. Among the recent ones, the faculty members of Department of Computer Science and IT attended live interactive webinar on ‘Cryptanalysis and Security Risk Assessment’ organized by National Center of Excellence, Ministry of Electronic and IT (Meity) and Data Security Council of India (DSCI).
In order to tackle the present problems associated with education sector, the faculty members of all departments attended a webinar on most relevant theme in present crisis i.e. ‘Pandemic Pedagogy to Planned Online Learning and Teaching’ by Dr. Marisha McAuliffe, Chief-Academics and Quality Systems, NSHM Knowledge Campus, Kolkata. The central theme of this webinar was to select right tools based on usability, accessibility, functionality and shared ability. Apart from this, the faculty members are attending lecture series in their relevant fields like History, Physics, Languages, Journalism and Mass Communication, Economics, Commerce and Management and Sciences. Teachers are using different tools to connect to experts all over world and adopting latest techniques for teaching learning process that include holding online quiz contests for students for general awareness and related to COVID19, preparing content for digital media by faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication etc.
