NCC Cdt. Sandeep Kaur of BBK DAV College performed ‘Guard of Honour’ at 66th Republic Day Prade

Amritsar, Feb. 11 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Army Wing of NCC of BBK DAV College for Women has again bagged laurels for college and Punjab as well. Cdt. Sandeep Kaur of BBK DAV College, under Ist Pb (G) BN, NCC has made everyone proud by performing ‘Guard of Honour’ at Delhi on Republic Day at 66^th Republic Day Prade. Cdt. Sandeep Kaur has burnt Mid Night Fuel for 5 months and has proved herself by making her place in Drill, Debate, Flag Area and Cultural Programme to achieve this success. Firstly, she proved herself by working really hard and a great zeal and enthusiasm in 3 camps held at Amritsar for two days each. In these three camps she practiced for drill from 7.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. and devoted rest of the time to rehearse for cultural programme. After these three camps, competition got tougher and all directorates came to compete, i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh and Chandigarh at Roop Nagar, where selection is not an easy task. But she paved attention and got selected. College’s NCC Incharge Ms. Harsimran Kaur has been guiding stick to her and with her blessings and sandeep hard work, she managed to reach the next level, i.e. DCAT-I and DACT-II. She participated in several activities in these camps and the main area of her attention was ‘Drill’ which boosted her morale. On 10^th November at DCAT-II, she got silver medal from major general G.S. Cheema on bagging second position in Flag Area. After DCAT-I and DCAT-II, camp of Pre RD-I was there, which meant a way tougher competition to reach to next level i.e. Pre. RD-II. After this she got selected for 26^th Jan, 15 Parade on 25^th Dec, 2014. After crossing 8 steps to reach delhi. Sandeep was amongst the 100 cadets who got selected from 2 lakh cadets. On 30^th December, 2014 she reached Delhi, where 17 Directorates were preparing to compete with each other. She got an opportunity to interact with people of different cultures & traditions to know about them. On 9^th January, 2015 she got the opportunity to meet the Army Chief- Dalbir Singh Suhag and interact with him along with Chief of Airwing Arup Raha & Chief of Navy D.K Joshi & Prime Minister Sh. Narender Modi & President & Vice President of India. She has also participated in PM Rally which was held on 26^th January, 2015. She also got the cash prize of 11000/-, from government of Punjab as Punjab Directorate came first after 37 years.

About this achievement Cadet Sandeep Kaur said “I have often seen my parents watching Republic Day Prade on T.V. and getting mesmerized, which gave me motivation to reach there and NCC Incharge Harsimran Kaur when she saw me the first day she said that I could go to Delhi for sure, which boosted my morale and helped me to cross each & every hurdle”

She also added “This journey has taught me the alone of Discipline & Dedication and has given me the most memorable moments of my life” On this occasion, the college Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra congratulated her and showed her consent to honour her on college’s Annual Prize Distribution Day/ She also got a scholarship “Full Fee concession”, from college till her term in college.
