Advanced Cutting and Tailoring Center inaugurates at Chogawan

Amritsar, August 27 (Pujnjab Post Bureau) –  This border district today took a giant leap in Skill Development mission by introducing a Special Skill Development Center at the remote village of Chogawan besides engaging 52 Ludhiana based clothing industrial units to ensure direct placement of girls and boys belonging to border areas.

          Under Border Area Skill Development Program the Amritsar administration in association with North India Technical Consultancy Organisation (NITCON) has set a target to provide a skilled force of 1932 youngsters to clothing ventures at Ludhiana and they all will get confirmed placements in those industries after completion of their skill development courses.

          While inaugurating the state of the art Advance Cutting and Tailoring Center at Chogawan village, Chairman District Planning committee Mr. Veer Singh Lopoke accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat said that the fixed target will be accomplished by March 2016. He said that till date 509 under matriculation and senior secondary youngsters have scripted their success stories by becoming self-employed. He said that this campaign will soon take a tremendous pace and the Amritsar district will excel in skill development under border area skill development program.

          Giving details about the center Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat while talking to media persons said that it was first of its own kind center in border areas of state having Japanese machines. He said that the 52 Ludhiana based clothing industrial units have agreed to provide direct placements to skilled trainees of this center. He said that the center will run three months Skill Development Courses in advanced cutting and tailoring to cater the needs of Ludhiana garment industries. He said that the 509 youngsters have started their own ventures after becoming skilled in various streams including cutting and tailoring, fashion designing, beauty culture, mobile repairs, inverter and stablisers repairs, electrical motor winding, computer etc.

          The Deputy Commissioner said that this initiative of setting up skill development centers will give a further fillip to economic growth of three border blocks of district namely Chogawan, Ajnala and Attari. He said that it was the foremost mission of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal to make unemployed youth of Border Area self-employed or ensure placements for them after making them skilled with latest technology and markets needs. He said that after Ludhiana the talks were on with various companies to get these skilled youth employed at Jalandhar and Amritsar too.

          Briefing about the infrastructure build at this center Mr. Bhagat said that there were 26 Japanese machines have been installed at a cost of Rs. 13 lakhs.  Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Mr. Vijay Arora, AGM NITCON, Charanjit Singh, Deputy ESA, Mr. Vijay Arora, AGM and Mr. Sunil Kumar, Manager NITCON.
