Amritsar, June 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Union Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot today visited
the holy city and discussed Modi government’s last three years’ policies and programs for the neglected section of the society. He held various meeting with the public men, district officials and BJP leaders and apprised them about the various initiatives taken by the Centre government.
He was earlier given a warm reception by the officials and the BJP leaders at the local Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport and later at the circuit house. Union Minister Vijay Sampla also met Gehlot and discussed a number of programs and public services being offered by the Centre in the border areas. Gehlot said he was here as part of Union government’s program to make Modi government’s public-oriented-policies in each of the parliamentary constituency.
The other leaders who met Minister included Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Anil Jodhi, Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora, Rakesh Gill and SP (rtd) Kewal Kumar. Chhina who had contested the local parliamentary elections apprised Gehlot about the challenges in the implementation of the schemes including Swachh Bharat, Ujwal Yojna, Jan Dhan Scheme and other programs relating the schemes for the downtrodden and schedule castes. Chhina said that the people must bring complaints relating the implementation of these schemes if any and those would be taken up at the highest level.
