Y-20 officials addressed the Media at Guru Nanak Dev University

Panelists and delegates of Y-20 Consultation Summit warmly received

Amritsar 14 March (Punjab Post Bureau) The panelists and delegates of G-20 countries to participate in the Y-20 Consultation Summit being hosted by Guru Nanak Dev University on March 15 has received a warm welcome on their arrival in the University campus by Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar and other officials of the University and Government.

The delegates of the summit paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib where they were also honored by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabadhak Committee. They also visited the Jallianwala Bagh and paid respects to this historical place.

Earlier, a special press conference was also organized by the Guru Nanak Dev University. The officals of the University of the Governemnt of Y-20 addressed the press conference held in the syndicate room of the University. On this occasion, Mr. Naveen Kumar from Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, Prof. Sarbjot Singh Behl, Dean Academic Affairs and Nodal Officer; Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean, Student Welfare and Prof. Sukhpreet Singh, Professor in charge of Public Relations Department also addressed the media and informed about the programs, scope and objectives related to Y-20.

While addressing the media personal, Prof. Behl said that Youth 20 (Y20) is an official Engagement Group for youth from all G20 member countries for having dialogues and discussions with each other. Y20 encourages youth as future leaders to raise awareness of global issues, exchange ideas, argue, negotiate, and reach a consensus. He said that multiple international events planned all over India as part of the Youth20 engagement group. Out of these events, Youth consultations will be hosted by universities. He said that the events are based on five themes includes Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War; Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation, & 21st Century Skills; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life; Health, Wellbeing & Sports: Agenda for Youth; Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance.

He said that India is hosting the G-20 events as we take the presidency. The prestigious Presidency of the G-20 group comes after every 20 years and it is the first time that India has assumed Presidency of the G-20 group of countries. As India moves into Azaadi ka Amrit Kaal, India is taking its rightful place as a world leader under the leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

He said that the Group of Twenty (G20) is the premier intergovernmental forum for International Economic Cooperation. The forum plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major International Economic Issues.

He said that India holds the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023   and the theme of India’s G20 Presidency is – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future”. The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States) and the European Union. Youth 20 (Y20) is an official Engagement Group for youth from all G20 member countries for having dialogues and discussions with each other, he added.

He said that the main event will be held in the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre of the University on 15th March, 2023. In the panel discussion the main theme will be “Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation, & 21st Century Skills. Mr.Harjot Singh Bains, Higher Education Minister, Secretary Higher Education and Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor will also participate in this event.
