Amritsar, August 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Member Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla today raised the matter of
misplaced barber wire at the village Kakkar of Amritsar. Aujla informed the house that the said fence which begins from border pillar no. 95/5S to pillar no. 95/7G had been positioned at the wrong place due to which 2000 acres of farmland is cut off from the main land causing multiple issue to farmers, farmhands and security agencies. Even Punjab Government’s Seed Farm is beyond the barbed fence causing issues during the movement of seeds. Due to this misplaced fence the farmers and farmhands of Chogawan block of RajaSansi assembly constituency have to go through identification and security check processes everyday while they cross over the fence gates to work in their fields.
On the other hand the security agencies also face issues as this 2000 acre stretch is too vast to be monitored at night with limited lighting arrangements giving breach space to the smugglers and infiltrators. Aujla demanded that this misplaced fence of 1.25Kms length be replaced to correct location giving relief to both farm owners and the agencies. He also demanded the construction of pucca tracks along the barbed wire on the tune of Rajasthan for easy maneuvering of security forces.
Aujla said that farmers having land across river Ravi near international border also face similar problems due to lack of permanent/makeshift bridges and barges. He added that the defence bridges in the border areas of Punjab are neither repaired/upgraded by army nor by civil administration due to departmental /administrative issues. He informed the house that all these issue pose serious threat to the national security, therefore an instant and permanent solution must be implemented.
