Covid testing starts in vegetable markets under special camps

 11 positive cases found at Phagwara Mandi

Kapurthala, May 4 (Punjab Post Bureau)  – Testing has been started in the vegetable mandis in Kapurthala district by setting up special camps inside the mandis to prevent the spread of covid. During the camp at the main sabzi mandi on Hoshiarpur Road in Phagwara 11 positive cases were found.

              SMO Phagwara Dr. Kishore Kumar said that a total of 80 samples were collected during the camp in collaboration with the officers of Mandi Board, out of which 11 found positive. Contact tracing of the positive cases has been started immediately besides making them isolated.

            It may be recalled that yesterday Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepti Uppal and SSP Kapurthala Mrs. Kanwardeep Kaur visited the Kapurthala Vegetable Market and directed the concerned authorities to strictly imolement the covid rules.

                   District Mandi Officer Arvinder Singh said that the testing camps organized at New Sabzi Mandi Kapurthala and Phagwara today, during which more than 50 samples were taken at Kapurthala and about 80 samples at Phagwara.

               Officials of the Mandi Board have called for cooperation by meeting the artiyas and shopkeepers to prevent further spread of the disease during the epidemic, he added.
