Sangat paid obeisance at Sri Harmandar Sahib
Amritsar, October 23 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) with support
of the Sabha Societies and the Sangat (community) celebrated the 487th Parkash Gurpurb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji with devotion and respect at Sri Harmandar Sahib.
On this occasion, the bhog (culmination) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib was held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, after which, prominent raagis, dhaddis (balladeers) and kavishar (peot) groups connected the Sangat with the Gurbani, Guru’s life, praise and history. Lakhs of pilgrims also paid obeisance to express their devotion at Sri Harmandar Sahib.
The beautiful jalau (grandeurs) decorated at Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib remained the centre of attraction during the Prakash Gurpurb.
SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur, Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh and other prominent personalities of the community paid obeisance at Sri Harmandar Sahib, who were given the Guru’s blessings Siropaos (robe of honours) by head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh. Various langars were also set up by various dignitaries and Sabha Societies dedicated to the eve of birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, the founder of the Amritsar city.
During the events at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, the Panthic poets recited poems about the incomparable life of Guru Ramdas Ji at Kavi Darbar (Poets’ Court) today.
Last night, various raagi groups connected the Sangat with Gurbani associated with Sri Guru Ramdas Ji at Raag Darbar and Padtal Shabd Gayan event at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib. During the Raag Darbar, SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur, Giani Jagtar Singh and Giani Harpreet Singh also shared their views with the Sangat and encouraged them to live according to the life and teachings of the fourth Guru.
Others who attended the events included Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana, Giani Balwinder Singh, SGPC general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami, many SGPC members, officials and prominent personalities.
