
Amritsar, Jan 27 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Inspired by the launch of “Start-Up” and “Stand-Up” National Programmes of India, students of Delhi Public School, Amritsar undertook cleaning up of statues of great people across the city. In Kitchlew Chowk they cleaned the statue of Saifuddin Kitchlew, a great freedom fighter, barrister and an Indian Muslim Nationalist leader. BR Ambedkar statue at elevated road chowk besides others City’s Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat, on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the school and the students. He said that the sanctity of these statues should be maintained at any cost. The students led the cleaning up project conveying the message that a small step from every Indian citizen can be big for fulfilling the ‘Clean India’ Campaign. Meantime in the school premises of Delhi Public School Amritsar celebration of 67th Republic Day was with great enthusiasm. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. Colonel H.S Cheema graced the occasion as chief guest. and was accorded a formal floral welcome by Principal Ms Sangeeta Singh , with an inspirational poem “ Where the mind is without fear “ The celebrations began with unfurling of national flag followed by national anthem. The students brought the stage alive with their passion and love for the motherland with their dance performance on poem “Ekla Chalo Re” as the school premises reverberated with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm and the spirit of nationalism was brought alive with the rendition of patriotic songs by the school band. The chief guest delivered an inspiring speech remembering leaders and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country encouraging the youth for devoting themselves to service of the nation.”
