Trekking Expedition From Banoi to Dharech by 316 Field Regiment

Amritsar, November 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The trekking expedition by personnel of 316 Field Regiment on its successful completion was flagged in by General Officer Commanding, Panther Division on 12^th Nov 2016. The first ever trekking expedition undertaken by the unit, it tested the courage, resolve and stamina of all the 13 team members. The expedition was aimed to inculcate sense of adventurism, mental robustness and camaraderie amongst the members to carry on exploration of remote areas. The expedition was earlier flagged off on 31 October 2016 by GOC.

            During the expedition the team interacted with locals enroute especially ex-servicemen of the remote villages. The team was instrumental in carrying out various Sadbhavna activities to include distribution of basic medicines, blankets, stationery to elderly and children respectively.  The team also encouraged locals to join the Army and urged the local sports talent to go for upcoming sports quota recruitment. The team successfully completed the expedition and covered a distance of approximately 150 Kms, over a period of ten days. The team has explored the region and interacted with the locals enroute and spread the message of indomitable spirit and ‘Will to Win’ of the Army, amongst them. Team members have carried out observation of the flora and fauna of the region closely and compiled a catalogue of the same.
