Two-days Capacity Building Training Program starts in Amritsar

Amritsar, Oct 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Capacity building programme for training of drug prevention which was PUNJ2210201903organized under the leadership of Dr. S.P joshi regional director on behalf of Jalandhar Regional Center of Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration of Punjab Chandigarh was held on Monday at district council hall here. The teachers who teach in all the government schools in the district will be given two days training for the prevention of drug addiction. Assistant commissioner General Anamjot Kaur was here to address the teachers. In addition to the master trainers of Amritsar to address the teachers, District Nodal officer buddy group Parminder Singh Saini and district master trainer Mukesh Kumar were also present from Gurdaspur. Regional Director Dr SP Joshi explained that. According to a UN report, 10 lakh people in India have been registered who have become habitual of taking heroin while the numbers are being estimated at close to 50 lakhs unofficially. By using heroin, people can get rid of severe sleep and pain. But it slowly hollows out the body. District Education Officer Salvinder Singh Samra addressed the teachers to be positive in their attitude. He said in the report released in Vienna in 2002, the International Control Board exposed that people who eat opium in India are now taking heroin instead of opium. He appealed to the teachers as the creator of the nation and urged them to be aware of the ill effects of drugs to save the future of their country.

            Guidance Counselor cum District Nodal Officer Buddy Program Parminder Singh Saini Said that a teacher can play an important role in shaping the future of the child and the student will consider him as their God. District Master Trainer Mukesh Kumar said that today the future of the country in the hands of the nation builders. They can make them aware about the diseases such as AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, Tuberculosis caused by intoxication. He said that the punishments have been made strict to eliminate the root of the intoxication in which preparations have been made at the national level to deal with drugs. To counter this threat, strict laws have been enacted for the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance Act of 1985. A drug related offender can be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years and a fine of Rs 1 lakh which can be extended up to 20 years and a fine of Rs 2 lakh. In India, 50 percent of the Adolescent Periods step into the sea of drugs by doing at least one type of drug in ninth grade.

            On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner Anamjot Kaur said that there are many reasons responsible for the increasing trend of intoxicants, especially the breakdown of the joint system, the love of parents in modern families where parents are busy in their  jobs and children are ignored. The collapse of ancient religious and moral values, the industrial system, the urban system etc. the mental pressure of the individual in modern life and the drug dealers sitting in the rapidly changing society are also leading the youth towards the brink of ruin. People in the age group of 18 to 35 who are trapped in it are completely destroyed physically, mentally, morally and intellectually. Even if our governments are able to save the country from external attacks, the youngsters will be on the verge of disaster. So our society needs to unite and face this evil.
