Amritsar, Dec. 22 (Dharmender Singh Rataul) – It was an emotional `home-coming’ for more than 450 ex-students of historic Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA) as they paid their visit to their alma-mater here today. The alumnus today shared age old memories during the `Alumni Meet-2014’ on college campus as they, settled across the world, arrived here after a long gap and `cut the cake together’.
The alumnus started pouring in since morning and they were welcomed at the College and the 45 senior most alumnus in including former PAU, Ludhiana Vice Chancellor Dr. Khem Singh Gill, present VC Dr. B.S Dhillon, IPS Harjit Singh Sandhu and peanut King of Argentina Simarpal Singh, Prof. Mohan Singh, Balwinder Singh Aiden. The alumnus also witnessed a cultural program, a show match of Kabaddi by the students of the college. The Alumnus present in the meet includesDr. Mohinder Singh Dhillon, Dr. Davinder Singh Director Punjab Cultural Promotion Council, Jaswant Singh Jass, Kuljit Singh (Singh Bros.), Barinder Pal Singh, Kirpal Singh, Jasbir Singh Saggu Chief Editor Daily Punjab Post, Kulwant Singh Ankhi, Er. Jaswant Singh Gill, Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, H.S Rakhra, Ravi Boparai etc.
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) Chancellor Rajmohinder Singh Majitha who was the chief guest at the Welcome ceremony alongwith the vice president Charanjit Singh Cahdha and honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina gave away the honours to College’s old students. They appreciated the efforts of Principal Dr. Mehal Singh for organizing the function meticulously. The power point presentation depicting the history of the College and its sister and its sister organizations was appreciated well. Chhina announced that the Alumni Meet would be an annual feature and fixed the December 22 every year as the day for the old students of the College. He said there were efforts to rope in ex-students from various foreign countries and they expect next time more participation from abroad. The retired colonels, doctors, engineers and officials retired and serving attended the Alumni.
The Alumni in their addresses hailed the KCA as an institution of learning and said they achieved heights in life after attaining the education from here. They also vowed that they would do every bit to help the institution of higher learning to achieve more academic and heritage excellence. Dr. Mehal Singh said the objective of the Meet was to provide an opportunity to alumnus to share their sweet memories relating their times spent at College.
