DC takes stock of Dengue situation-visits ward of Guru Nanak Hospital

Economically weaker patients to have free of cost blood components

Amritsar, September 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat issuing advisory to the people of Amritsar not to panic over dengue as the state government has made elaborated and free medication arrangements to tackle the situation.

Mr. Bhagat said that state government was making all out efforts to forbid the spread of dengue besides providing needful treatment to each and every patient. He also informed that economically weaker patients, who are unable to bear the cost of required blood components in case of dengue positive including platelets, will be provided free of cost blood components. He said that the district administration will bear the above expenditure to ensure speedy and requisite treatment for patients.

Mr. Bhagat along with Civil Surgeon, Medical Superintendent and other senior doctors of Guru Nanak Hospital, was visiting Dengue ward of local Guru Nanak Hospital to take stock of the situation and enquired about the well-being of suspected dengue patients. After taking a round of the ward, Mr. Bhagat interacted with under treatment patients and they expressed satisfaction over the medication. He also directed the authorities to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation arrangements. Jagdev Singh (19) resident of village Kotha and another patient from Batala informed the Deputy Commissioner that they were being given proper treatment, medication and other facilities.

Talking to media persons, Mr. Bhagat said that as many as 62 patients were admitted to civil, Guru Nanak and other private hospitals in Amritsar. He said that maximum patients have been relieved from hospitals after taking proper medication with requisite recovery. He also appealed to the people they should get a checkup and consult doctors if found fever.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed that separate wards for dengue suspected patients had been setup in Civil Hospital and Guru Nanak Hospital with installation of medicated nets. He said that the state government was being provided free of cost medicines, x-ray, ultrasound to dengue patients besides having sufficient arrangements in the blood banks. He said that blood bank staff was also working round the clock to meet blood and platelet transfusion to patients.

Issues instructions to intensify fogging- Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat also asked Commissioner Municipal Corporation to ensure intensify the fogging to check the spread of dengue especially in congested areas, industrial areas, slums etc.

Helpline in case of emergency: Dr. Jai Singh, Civil Surgeon, Amritsar appealed the general public that in case of any kind of emergency they can contact at helpline numbers of Health Department including 104 and 108 to get immediate healthcare services.
