
Jalandhar, Jan 11 (Punjab Post Bureau)- To commemorate the celebrations of Army Day 2016, Vajra Corps organized Medical and Blood donation camps at Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Amritsar military stations today. A medical camp was organized in the premises of Military Hospital inside the Jalandhar Cantonment, at Shaheed Baba Deep Singh College, Pahuwind (Bhikhiwind) and at Military Hospital, Amritsar.
The medical camp at Jalandhar was visited by Lt Gen JS Cheema, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps, wherein he interacted with the ex- servicemen and encouraged them to live a healthy lifestyle. He assured all ex-servicemen of providing the necessary assistance related to their medical problems. The medical camp provided services of all broad specialties and basic Pathology Laboratory services under one roof to encompass both therapeutic and diagnostic facilities.
Besides, a medical camp at Bhikiwind organized by the Golden Arrow Division, provided Medical, Dental, Eye & ENT checkup for the veterans, veer naris and ex- servicemen, residing in the Tarn Taran district and adjoining areas. A Blood Donation camp was also organized on this occasion. Apart from the medical facilities, various other facilities were also provided at the camp site to include interaction with representatives from Veteran Sahayata Kendra, Amritsar, Pension Distributing Office, Amritsar and District Sainik Welfare Office, Tarn Taran, to assist all visitors on various issues related to their pension, allowances and other cases pending with the civil administration.
Meanwhile, a Blood Donation Camp was organized at the Military Hospital, Amritsar also in collaboration with Blood Bank, Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar. It received an overwhelming response with a large number of officers and men participation in the camp, with over 150 units of blood collected.
The objective of organizing the medical camp was to reach out to all the ex-servicemen/veterans residing in the district of Jalandhar and adjoining areas of Punjab and Haryana and to address their medical/health needs and of their families, with an aim to develop a database of the disease profile and identify the specific medical/health needs, which could be addressed through ECHS polyclinics subsequently.
