G.K leads High level DSGMC delegation who meets Home Minister

Asks Mr. Rajnath Singh to set up SIT to open the cases of Sikhs killed in 1984 anti-Sikh massacre

New Delhi,  July 1 ( Amrit Lal Manan)- A high level delegation of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) led by its president Mr. Manjit Singh G.K. today met union home minister Mr. Rajnath Singh and took up the issues concerning the Sikhs.The delegation demanded compensation for the families of 218 Sikhs killed in Kanpur during 1984 genocide. According to Mr. G.K. as per government figures 218 Sikhs were killed and local authorities in the state have so far not done anything their families. “Compensation assured to the victims’ families under prime minister’s scheme was never paid,” pointed Mr. G.K.

The delegation which also comprised DSGMC General Secretary and MLA Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Joint Secretary Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka who is also an MLA, and senior SAD leaders from Delhi including Mr. Onkar Singh Thapar and Mr. Kuldeep Singh Bhogal demanded for setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of the Supreme Court and open all cases of killing of innocent Sikhs in the 1984 massacre.

Taking up the issue of charge sheet against congress leader from Delhi Mr. Sajjan Kumar not presented in the court even after 22 years of registration of case against him for his alleged role in 1984 anti-Sikh massacre, Mr. G.K. said that in 1992 a case was registered against Mr. Sajjan Kumar in Nangloi police station, but so far the trial has not began, as chargesheet was never sent to the trial court by Delhi police. The president of DSGMC sought directions from union home minister for Delhi police for filing charge-sheet in the court and make Mr. Sajjan Kumar accused of anti Sikh massacre face trial and given strictest possible punishment.

Mr. G.K. informed the union minister that DSGMC has planned a memorial in memory of thousands of hapless and innocent Sikhs killed in 1984 riots, in the premises of Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib a year ago, against which New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has moved Court, due to which the work of the memorial has been stalled. In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Rajnath Singh, Mr. G.K. sought the intervention of home ministry so that DSGMC could build the memorial.

Addressing the home minister DSGMC general secretary Mr. Sirsa said that Sikhs have high hopes on NDA government led by BJP of which SAD is an important constituent and the issues related to Sikhs would be resolved at earliest. Union minister assured all help to the DSGMC and said that he would take up matter with concerned ministries.
