Awareness is Must to Intensify National Health Mission

Chandigarh, Sept. 8 (Punjab Post Bureau)-  Government of India has intensified National Health Mission (NHM) in the country since 2014, for which awareness among the masses is a must.  This was stated here today by Shri Rajeev Rattan, Mission Director, National Health Mission of Haryana while addressing the Orientation Workshop for Publicity Campaign on Mother & Child Health and Mission Indradhanush for Field Officers of Directorate of Field Publicity (North West Region), Chandigarh under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

            He further said that some major health schemes like Reproductive Maternal New Born Child Health  + Adolescent (RMNCH+A) and Mission Indradhanush were launched in Haryana to ensure total health care for mothers, children and adolescents alongwith complete vaccination programme.  He informed that Haryana Government is giving thrust on three components among preventive care, which include (i) No Hunger; (ii) Good Health and Well being; and (iii) Public Health. He also highlighted that 24×7 free ambulance service (102) is running in the state to facilitate the cases of accidents, pregnant women and emergency health services. In addition, under NHM, 16 vaccination vans and mobile medical vans have also been provided to cater to the patients in different districts of Haryana, he added.

            He advised the Field Publicity Officers to spread awareness on the real benefits of various health schemes among the people. He emphasized on the need to highlight the aspects like hygiene, sanitation, population stabilization also.  He urged them to help the common people come out of the myths about NHM especially vaccination programme.

            Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ashish Goyal, Director, DFP (NWR) elaborated on various themes of special outreach programmes to be conducted during the period of September-October 2016 in the states of Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. He informed that the core health schemes include RMNCH+A, Mission Indradhanush, Population Stabilization, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Anemia among adolescent girls.  As many as 16 awareness programmes will be conducted in the Phase-I of Special Outreach Programmes in above three states in collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and District Health Departments.

            Others, who addressed the different sessions of the Orientation Workshop, include Dr. Deepika Gupta and Dr. Sube Singh from National Heath Mission, Haryana. Dr. G.B. Singh, Directorate of Health Services, Punjab also addressed the participants.
