Wreath Laying Ceremony at ‘Shaheed Smarak’

Amritsar, Sept. 11 (Punjab Post Bureau)- To pay homage to the martyrs of 1965 war, Brigadier Rajesh Panicker, Commander ‘Ghurki’ Brigade laid wreath at ‘Shaheed Smarak’, located at Abdul Hamid Samadhi Complex at village Cheema, Distt Tarn Taran on 09 September 2016. In a serene environment of newly constructed ‘Shaheed Smarak’, a ceremony was organized by  the Ghurki Brigade of ‘Golden Arrow’ Division. A Guard Honour was presented to the martyrs with full military honours. During the ceremony Dr Rajat Oberoi, SDM Patti, Col DS Chahal (Retd), DSWO, Tarn Taran, veterans and village heads were also present.

The wreath laying ceremony was part of the three day long celebrations involving mela, sports competitions and Akhand Paath in the Gurudwara conducted by the villagers. The Army units also extended the facility of Mobile CSD for the Veterans of the area.
