NIELIT organizes State Level Workshop on Digital Payment Initiatives for Traders

PPN2004201722Karnal, April 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Chandigarh today organized a state level workshop on Capacity Building of Small and Medium Businesses/Traders on Digital Payment Initiatives supported by CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) atNational Bureau of Animal Genetic Research (NBAGR), Karnal. The main emphasis of the workshop was to spread awareness among the Small and Medium Business/Trader factions pertaining to the adoption of Digital Payment modes like UPI (Unified Payment Interface), USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data), BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System), AEPS (Adhaar Enabled Payment System).This is in line with vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to put India on the roadmap of being recognized as a Digitally advanced country.

The workshop on Capacity building of Small and Medium Business / Traders on Digital Payment Initiatives, was inaugurated by Smt.Kavita Jain, Cabinet Minister, Urban and Local Bodies, Government of Haryana in the august presence of Dr. M.M. Sharma, Executive Director, NIELIT Chandigarh and other dignitaries.

In her Keynote address, Smt. Kavita Jain, Cabinet Minister, Urban Local Bodies, Government of Haryana, said, “The word “Digital” has a become a part of daily life of common man now since the “Digital India Mission” was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. She laid emphasis on use of digital payment modes and appealed traders and business community to use it in daily financial transactions. She appreciated the role played by NIELIT in creating awareness by organizing such workshop.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. M. M Sharma Executive Director NIELIT Chandigarh sketched out details of training program for traders on Digital Payment initiatives. In his address he motivated the traders to embrace the technology driven environment that existed around them. Through Digital Transactions traders would be able to create vibrancy and momentum in market that would ultimately empower them with convenient and swift way of doing business. He said, “NIELIT Chandigarh has taken up the onus to create awareness among the trader community for spreading the Digital India Mission through such workshops and DigiDhan Camps. Dr. Sharma further said that the three DigiDhan camps would be organized on at Yammuna Nagar and Jagadhari in May 2017 for same cause. He expressed his gratitude to all the traders who were present and esteemed dignitaries that were a part of this workshop and hoped that traders would further encourage their co-businessperson in adopting digital payment modes.

Under this program NIELIT is organizing 5 regional workshops at Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Chennai and 30 State workshops and 100 DIGIDHAN Camps all over the country.
