Amritsar, 30 June (Punjab Post Bureau) – A Two-day 10th programme advisory committee meeting organized by
Guru Nanak Dev University was concluded here today in the Placement Department of the University. This meeting was financially supported by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB).
Prof. Narpinder Singh, Director of Research was the Coordinator of the Meeting. He welcomed the members and gave introduction about the academic activities of the University. The eminent experts Prof. D. N. Singh IIT Bombay, Prof. J. H. Arakeri IISc Bangalore, Prof. P. P. Mazumdar IISc Bangalore, Prof. Ananth Ramasamy IISc Bangalore, Dr. Ligy Phillip IIT Madras, Prof. Nagesh R. IyerDistinguished Emeritus Professor (AcSIR) Chennai, Prof. Souvik Bhattacharyya Senior Professor & Vice – Chancellor, BITS Pilani, Prof. T. Sundararajan IIT Madras, Prof. Sunil Pandey Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Prof. Harish Hirani ,Director, CMERI Durgapur, Sh. S. S. Kohli Scientist-G, Programme Coordinator. SERB/DST, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Rawat Scientist-C, Member Secretary SERB/DST and some Principal Investigators participated in the meeting.
In the meeting the ongoing as well as completed projects in the field of Civil and Mechanical Engineering were reviewed. The very meeting was fruitful in view of the interaction between the Experts and the faculty of the University, possible mentoring and exposure of faculty and providing information on what kind of research in the field of Civil and Mechanical Engineering is supportive.
The members were of the view that research and degree level courses in the field of Civil and Mechanical Engineering needed to be started by the University as there is great scope and potential in these fields. Experts also interacted with the faculty members and researchers were also held on the concluding day.
