National Symposium on ‘Canine Practice & Welfare’ at KCVAS
Amritsar, February 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The veterinary scientists and researchers today appreciated the rising
trend of keeping pet dogs in the society but warned that the people must take care of the nutrition value of the animals. They said every breed has different food requirements and awareness must be created to choose the food reasonably by the pet lovers to keep the animals healthy.
These were the deliberations during the 16th Annual Convention of Indian Society for Advancement of Canine Practice (ISACP) and a national Symposium on “Exploring New Horizons in Canine Practice and Welfare”, organized at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar (KCVAS) here today. The veterinary scientists including the vice-chancellors from various Vet Universities from all over the country are participating in the event.
The experts focused on the animal health, treatment and care. The inaugural function was presided over by Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina whereas Prof. PD Juyal, Vice-Chancellor, NDVSU, Jabalpur, Prof. C. Balchandran, Vice-Chancellor, TANUVAS, Chennai and Prof. NP Dakshinkar, Vice-Chancellor, CGKDU, Durg were the Guests of Honour. They all were earlier welcomed by Principal Dr.SS Sidhu.
He said more than 200 delegates are taking part in the event and papers on keeping pets, their care and health and small and marginal farmers’ challenges were discussed. The Conference, said Chhina was dedicated to the 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji as Dr. Inderjit Singh Gogoani, renowned scholar in religious studies gave an account of the Guru’s life and teachings.
The ISACP report presentation was delivered by Prof. AK Srivastava, secretary general, ISACP followed by the distribution of ISACP awards. He congratulated KCVAS for organizing the event and said that canine practice is gaining importance in recent years which comes with greater responsibility of the veterinarians in terms of skilled services. He added that the discussions will provide a useful platform for exchange of knowledge and propose new recommendations for professionals working in various fields of veterinary sciences and better management of pets.
The Guests of Honours were facilitated by the Principal following which vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. NA Sudhan, Organising Secretary. KCGC Vice President Swinder Singh Kathunangal, Joint Secretaries Gunbir Singh, Jagdish Singh, Ajmer Singh Heir, SS Mannan, Rajbir Singh, Principal Dr. Mehal Singh, Dr. DK Dhawan, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Neelam Hans, former Principal Dr. SK Jand were present.
