
Amritsar, November 17 (Punjab Post Bureau)– To encourage young aspirants for higher education in University and make them to feel the ambiance of the University, The Guru Nanak Dev University organized an open house, a concept in which the students from schools make a visit to the university campus to understand and feel the system of higher education under the able guidance of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar. As this system is already prevalent in number of countries including Japan, Germany and USA.This visit was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University.
Under this a group of 108 students of class XI and IX led by Mr Paramjit Singh, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala, Village Awan visited the University Campus here today. These Students were from different Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (a unit of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti under Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India) of Chandigarh region.
On reaching the campus, Prof. Navdeep Singh Sodhi, Director IQAC welcomed the students and staff. Dr. Swati Mehta and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Assistant Directors of IQAC coordinated the event along with the office staff Mr. Bhupinder Singh Thakur and Mr. Harpreet Singh. A team of NCC cadets of University Campus escorted and managed the young visitors.
During their visit, the students visited the laboratories in the Faculty of Sciences, Life Sciences and Engineering and Technology of the University. The students were very excited about their visit and participated in the event enthusiastically.
