
Amritsar, Apr. 24 (Manjit Kaur) – A spiritual and motivational seminar on “Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Five Steps of Enlightenment” in the context of life, philosophy and Sikhism held at CKD Institute of Management and Technology (CKDIMT). The key resource person was distinguished Sikh scholar, S. Jagraj Singh from world renowned Oxford University from U.K. He is head of an educational charity known as “Everythings 13”. One of the major projects of this society is to run “Basics of Sikhi” YouTube channel which is dedicated to spread the wisdom of the Sikh Gurus. While heartily welcoming the guest speaker on behalf of CKD President S. Charanjit Singh Chadha, Dr. H.S. Sandhu, Principal CKDIMT, said that the origin of Sikhism lies in the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his successors.
Sikh scholar S. Jagraj Singh explained about Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s five Khandas or Steps inscribed in Japji Sahib which are: Dharam Khand (Righteousness); Giaan Khand (Spiritual Making); Saram Khand (Shame, Effort that fixed up mind and awareness); Karam Khand (Kirpa and Act of Love) and Sach Khand (Truth) which owes path to oneness and enlightenment. He advocated that whatever one has achieved in life is because of the Kirpa (Blessings) of God and highest bliss of the world is only “Shabad”. He also threw light on three types of Principles in an individual’s life such as: ‘thought’ (mann or mind); ‘speech’ (bachan or word) and ‘action’ (karma or deed). Following these principles in day- to-day life help in eliminating “Haume” (Ego) in humans. He further elaborated the concept of “Bhagti” professed by Sri Guru Nanak Dev.
Dr. Baljinder Singh, Member-Incharge in his presidential remarks said that S. Jagraj Singh has explained preaches of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in a very simple and effective way. “Naam is very important in life because if we want “Sukh” (happiness) then it is in the name of Almighty. So, one should devote some valuable time in meditation”, he further added.
The scholarly learned discourse was highly applauded by the students and faculty alike and they had lively interaction with the guest speaker thereafter. S. Paramjit Singh Makkar (Head Placements) HOD’s and other staff members were also present on this occasion.
