
Amritsar, Mar. 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) -Punjab Local Bodies Minister Mr. Anil Joshi today announced that the holy city Amritsar would soon witness operations of CCTV cameras in order to put prominent places under surveillance.
Accompanied by Commissioner of Police Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh, Mr. Joshi while handing over a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh to Mrs. Shabnam Handa, Principal Police DAV Public School here, Mr. Joshi said that the days were not far when the prominent places namely Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple, tourist places, Civil Lines area will have CCTV operations. He said that besides these places various busy locations, markets and major roads of Amritsar North assembly segment will have the same operations in first phase. He said that the exercise on this project had been started.
Giving details of the project Mr. Joshi said that in first phase state had set aside Rs. 5 crore and the requisite study work on the proposed plan was in progress. He said that after completion of study, the holy city will witness the operations in couple of months. He said that the CCTV cameras will be installed at various vital inter sections to keep a check on incidents of crimes. On the issue of development, Mr. Joshi said it was the fact that Amritsar had witnessed record, historic and unprecedented development during last 9 years. He said that in months to come the city will get major facelift with completion of various ongoing key projects. He said that Attari Border will have tallest National Flag in the country, which will be hoisted in months to come. He said that after Company Bagh, the Amrit Anand Park is all set to have country’s first laser show on falling water from a height showcasing rich heritage and cultural significance of holy city. Meanwhile, Mr. Joshi accompanied by Commissioner of Police Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Harpreet Singh handed over a cheque of Rs. 2 lakh to Mrs. Shabnam Handa, Principal of Police DAV School.
