Amritsar, Oct. 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Diwali celebrations marked gaiety at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road. The auspicious festival of lights, when festivities are lined up one after the other, was charged with festive fervour symbolising triumph of good over evil. The school campus reverberated with the recitation of holy mantras spreading divinity around. The students presented a role – play depicting the return of Lord Rama, the embodiment of truth and morality, after his victory over Ravana , who personifies evil. Through this presentation , the students reached out to everyone and gave the message of fighting the Ravana within them and try to imbibe the ideals of Lord Rama. The students also took a pledge to celebrate the festival in an eco – friendly way by saying ‘No’ to crackers.
The students of the school also observed the day as the ‘Rishi Nirvan Diwas’. It was on this day that Maharishi Dayananda , the greatest reformer of Hinduism and founder of Arya Samaj left his physical body. They also presented a role play based on the spiritual journey of Swami Dayanand, when he first met his guru , Swami Virjanand ji. He was one of the most illustrious disciple of Swami Virjanand . The students remembered him for his tireless work for the political, religious and cultural emancipation of the country. The students paid tribute to Swami ji by taking a pledge to carry on with his mission and vision.
The students of the school celebrated National Unity Day to commemorate the 141st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel who really unified the country. He is also known as the Iron Man of India who worked hard to make India a united India. The students recalled the life history of Sardar Vallabhai Patel and said that it is very important to maintain unity and integrity of the country. Regional Director Punjab Zone A Dr. Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school Dr.Rajesh Kumar sent their best wishes for the teachers and the students. They advised the students to create awareness among the masses to celebrate Diwali in a green, clean and safe way. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school blessed the students and addressed them to celebrate a cracker free Diwali. She advised them to follow Vedic values and always work for the integral strength of the nation.
