BBK DAV College Organizes Two Day ‘Diwali Fiesta’

Amritsar, October 27 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Department of Design of BBK DAV College for Women organised a two day Diwali Fiesta in collaboration with departments of Design,Fine Arts, Home Science and Jewellery Designing in the college premises. Dr. Sarvjit Brar, wife of Hon’ble Dr. A.S. Brar, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the Chief Guest for the same.

Showcasing their creativity, students exhibited stalls on tie and die, block and screen printing, upholstery and utility items, murals, heena art, nail art, apparel accessories, scarves, stoles, dupattas, paper lanterns, mirrors, candles, diyas, various artefacts depicting Ganesha, jharokhas etc. Besides this, the students displayed stalls of various food items including pizza, pasta, dhokla, sandwiches, golgappas, cakes and chocolates. Dr. Sarvjit Brar applauded the efforts of given to the students at the grassroots level by the college. The exhibition was also visited by SP Mr. Lakhbir Singh who expressed deep appreciation of the creative talent of the students & faculty.

Acknowledging the endeavours of the students and staff, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that such events are necessary for acquainting the students with vocational skills. She added that BBK DAV College has always emphasized the practical aspect of learning. Mrs. Manjot Sandhu, Vice Principal, Mrs. Mandeep Sokhi, Head, Department of Design, Dr. Poonam Rampal, Head, Department of Home Science, Dr. Jeewan Sodhi, Head,  Department of Fine Arts, Mrs. Shefali Johar, Coordinator, Department of Jewellery Design along with other faculty members, congratulated the students on making Diwali fiesta a grand success.
