Amritsar, January 31 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Laying down his agenda for the development of industry in the border district, SAD-BJP joint candidate for Lok Sabha Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today promised to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for bringing more industrial investments. He said the employment generation was possible only through more industrial proliferation in the area apart from the agro-based small scale manufacturing units and trade.
Chhina who addressed various election meetings today in rural as well as urban areas said that the special incentives would be given to industry for setting up units in the SEZ on the lines of China. “In China there are special zones for big and small industry. The industry will be categorized and it will also be ensured that the local youth are employed in the units to generate employments’’, said he while addressing a rally at village Wadali. Accompanied by former BJP chief Kamal Sharma, he said he had already spoken to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in this regard during later’s last visit and he also agreed for special projects for Amritsar. “Jaitley have special liking for the city we discussed in detail the possibilities of industrial expansion in the border constituency’’, said he adding that if voted to be MP he would press for central incentives for special economic zone. He said Amritsar would emerge as trade and tourism centre in the days to come with special focus on the IT industry.
Chhina also addressed the industrialists in the special meeting organized in his honour in presence of Punjab Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi where members from Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association, Laghu Udyog Bharti and Focal Point Welfare Association declared their unconditional support to BJP in Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The industrials and office bearers of respective bodies including Dr.RK Dhawan, Amit Kapoor, Ajay Sharma, Sanjiv Sharma, JP Singh, TR Mahajan, Sunil Khanna and Kamal Dalmia welcomed the move by Chhina to chalk out program for industrial revival.
