Workshop on Teaching of English held at DAV Public School

Amritsar, Aug. 8 ( Punjab Post Bureau)- A one day teachers’ workshop on Teaching of English for Std XII was organized by DAV Public School, Lawrence Road , Amritsar under the aegis of DAV CAE Regional Training Centre (Amritsar Zone) under DAV Centre of Academic Excellence, DAV , CMC , New Delhi. As many as 20 Teachers from GND DAV Public School, Bhikhiwind , MKD DAV Public School, Attari, DAV International School, Police DAV Public School and DAV Public School participated in the workshop. Mrs. Aruna Bakshi Supervisor Std XI & XII Commerce and Mrs. Poonam Sharma Senior English Faculty were the resource persons. The workshop highlighted the aim of teaching of English and the role of teachers in achieving academic excellence. The resource persons stressed on the use of audio – video aids and internet to make the lessons interesting . How power point presentations can enhance learning and make the lessons comprehensive was also discussed. Many interesting activities were taken up. Development of reading and writing skill among students was one of the main concerns discussed . The changes in the syllabus and curriculum was also discussed. In the end, queries of the teachers were taken up and the pattern of the question paper was also discussed. The teachers shared their experiences while teaching in the class. The workshop was a great success as many new ideas and innovative ways to enhance learning of English were developed. Regional Director (Amritsar Zone) Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women and the Manager of the school Dr. K.N. Kaul Principal DAV College , Hathi Gate said that it was a positive step towards enhancing academic performance and enabling students to gain knowledge with understanding of concepts. She applauded the efforts of the school for organizing the workshop. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school , thanked the resource persons and all the participants for being a part of the workshop. English is an ever developing language therefore according to her such workshops can go a long way in keeping us abreast with the latest changes.
