Amritsar, Sept. 23 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of Sciences DAV College on the second day of the Science Camp ”Inspire” hosted a series of intellectual lectures in order to motivate the students towards the field of science and explore the scientific ideas among them. Innovation in Sciences Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is one of the innovative programs developed by the Department of Sciences and Technology of the Govt. of India. The basic objective of “INSPIRE” is to attract talent to the study of sciences at an early stage and help build the required critical human resource pool for strengthening and expanding the sciences and technology system and R&D base. About 250 students from 16 different schools across Punjab Region participated in the event.
The event started with inspiring lecture by Dr. Chanchal Kumar, Associate Prof
(Mathematics) and Dean Academics, IISER, Mohali. He gave a lecture on Combinatory of Lattice Path. Speaking on the occasion he discussed about the meaning and concepts of Lattice Path, different formulas used for counting Lattice Path and also talk about Properties of Binominal Coefficients.
Moving with the second session, Dr Neeraj Khare, Department of Physics, IIT, New Delhi gave a lecture on the topic of Superconductors and briefed about meaning, properties and unique Characteristics of Superconductors. He emphasized the significance of experimental discovery in the progress of science and to validate the process of scientific enquiry. Speaking on the occasion, he enlightened the students about the importance of Superconductors.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar also interacted with the students. He discussed about the entire activities of the day with students and also inspired young people with his encouraging words to be a science and technology experts, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs. The last session of the event observed a series of practical sessions performed by the participants under the guidance of faculty of the college. Dr. Rupinder Kaur (Program Coordinator), Dr. Neeraj Gupta (Assistant Program Coordinator) and members of Advisory Commitee Dr. Daizy Sharma, Dr. Vikas Gupta, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Rajni Khanna and Prof R.K Jha were also present during the event.
