Amritsar, Sept. 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – On the Fourth successive day of the DST sponsored science camp INSPIRE DAV College, Amritsar, observed a series of intellectual lectures. DAV College holds pride and privilege for organizing science camp INSPIRE which provides a unique platform for exchange of knowledge, sharing of experience and to nurture the curiosity of the students in Sciences, for the third time in a time span of two.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator of INSPIRE extended a floral welcome to the guests and the experts during the event. Beginning with the session Dr. MS Chauhan, Principal Scientist, Animal Biotechnology Center, National Dairy Research Institute Karnal, delivered a lecture on “How we can enhance the productivity of our farm animals?” It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. MS Chauhan is pioneer in producing world’s first stem celled buffalo calf. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Chauhan talked about the development of the reproductive technologies in humans and animals for the treatment of infertility and its results over the period of past twenty years. He also talked about in vitro production of embryos using in vitro technology.
The second lecture was delivered by Dr GS Sodhi, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry SGTB Khalsa College University of Delhi on the topic How Finger print assist in crime scene management. Speaking on the occasion Dr Sodhi said that finger prints have suspended all previous methods of establishing identities of criminal’s .The Session also observed a workshop on Crime Scene Management by Dr Sodhi.
In third session, a lecture on the topic Gene, Genomics and Cancer was delivered by Dr B.C Das, Chairman and Hargobind Khorana Chair Professor Amity Institute of Molecular Medicine and Stem Cell Research Amity University, UP. The event observed an introduction to the practical sessions and workshop on Mathematics by Prof Madan Mohan, Department of Mathematics, DAV College Amritsar. Students participating in the event from different schools performed the practicals in the Botany, Zoology and Physics laboratories in order to understand the concepts in a better manner.
Dr. Rupinder Kaur (Programme Coordinator), Dr. Neeraj Gupta (Assistant Programme Coordinator) and members of Advisory Commitee Dr Daizy Sharma, Dr. Vikas Gupta, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Dr Rajni Khanna, and Prof R.K Jha were also present during the event.
