
Amritsar, December 23 (Punjab Post Bureau)- It was an achievement to be applauded as DAV Public School Lawrence Road team comprising of Palak Bagga,Vatsal Soni of Std X and Vikas Mehta of Std XI Science ,was declared third in the prestigious National Aerolympics – 2016. The event was held under the aegis of Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI) from December 16th to 18th at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore . The objective of National Aerolympics is to create an awareness and interest in the field of aerospace engineering among the students of 10th, 11th & 12th Standard all over India and open new avenues for students in this field. In the first phase of the competition a project report on ‘Naval Aviation’ was to be submitted. Out of the 58 project reports received by AeSI, 24 top teams were short listed with DAV Public School being one among them. The next phase was held at Bangalore which comprised of eight individual events. The meticulously drafted events covered all aspects to analyse and review the individual students’ and team’s knowledge, innovation, ingenuity and resourcefulness. DAV Public School, Amritsar was placed in top 10 finalists after their screening through intense rounds like Awareness Quiz, Technical Quiz, Collage Making , Surprise Event, Cultural Event and Presentation. The school team bagged First prize in surprise Event and second prize in Phase – I i.e Report Submission. On the basis of these rounds the overall result was declared. DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar bagged overall third position at the National level missing the second position by just one mark.
Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College Amritsar applauded the efforts of the students for competing at such a prestigious National Level event and bringing laurels for the school. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school was ecstatic at the achievement of the students. She said that the exposure has given wings to the students to explore new horizons. She added that she wanted her students to be research oriented and work innovatively for the progress of the nation.
