Seminar on Guru Teg Bahadur, Play Vismaad and Books Released
Amritsar, March 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A highly thought-provoking seminar on `Guru Teg Bahadur-Baani and Shahadat Da Gaurav’ and a poetry session were the main attraction as the book-lovers thronged Khalsa College’s `Amritsar Literary Festival and Book Fair-2021’ on the second day today. There was a heavy rush on the book stalls as the young and old were shifting through the pages of their one or the other books.
The key note speaker Dr. Amarjit Singh Grewal said that while the commodities are produced in factories, the meaning of life is produced in the literature and instead of oneness we must celebrate diversities. Professor Rana Nayyar, retired from Punjabi University, Patiala, called Guru Teg Bahadur’s martyrdom as a revolutionary step in the history of the country.
“Guru ji chose martyrdom to life while standing on the high principals which turned out to be historic step”, said he. The dignitaries were earlier welcomed by Principal Dr. Mehal Singh. Two books `Sri Guru Teg Bahadur- Baani and Shahdat’ and `Sri Guru Teg Bahadur-Life and Teachings’ were released during the seminar. Head Granthi, Golden Temple, Giani Balwinder Singh said Guru was a master of sword as well as he had a highly sensitive heart and devotion to the spiritualism
Others who spoke included Dr.Inderjit Singh Gagoani, Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Dr. Paramjit Singh Dhingra, Dr. Baljit Singh Virk who shed light on various aspects of Guru’s life.
A poetry session was also witnessed in which noted poets Gurtej Kohrawala, Harmit, Vishal, Artinder, Malwinder, Rozy Singh, Indereshmeet presented their recitals as Prof Hira Singh’s book `Soma Sablok Da Katha Sansar’ and Sucha Singh Randhawa’s `Chaurasi De Aar Paar’ were released on the occasion. A play Vismaad, written by Dr. Devendar Singh and directed by Emanual was also the attraction as the academicians and book lovers intermingled during the fair.
The festival having exhibitions by more than 50 publishers from all over the country, had been arranged with the association of National Book Trust (NBT), said Principal Dr. Mehal Singh.
