Amritsar , February 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Chemical Society, Department of Chemistry Guru Nanak Dev University with support from Punjab State Council for Science & Technology organized Nature Camp at Takhni Forest Reserve Hoshiarpur under the Environment Education program of Ministry of Environment & Climate Change (MoEF & CC). A total of 48 master’s student from Department of Chemistry and Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences along with Dr. Nivedita Chaudhri and Dr. Gopal Singh from Department of Chemistry took part in this Camp from 9th – 10th February 2024. Mr. Varinder Kumar, a renowned taxonomist and environment conservation enthusiastic captivated the students with his profound knowledge of the region’s medicinal plants and shed light on the endangered species of Punjab. Moreover, he shared invaluable insights into the art of crafting compelling narratives of nature through short videos. Meanwhile, Mr. Manik Kapoor delved into the intricacies of wildlife rescue, particularly emphasizing on the tools and techniques essential for snake rescue operations. His expertise in mitigating human-snake conflicts proved to be enlightening for the students, providing them with practical skills and knowledge crucial for rescue and prevention efforts. Leaf creatives, nature quiz among others were part of Day -2 of the camp. Block officer, Takhni Forest Reserve, Charanjeet Singh attended the closing ceremony on second day, and handed over certificates to participants. He appreciated the efforts and dedication of students towards the nature. At the end Dr. Gopal Singh delivered thank you note on behalf of Chemical Society and honoured the resource persons and other dignitaries present over there.
