Course on Disaster Management and Environmental Awareness inaugurated

Amritsar, November 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – One-week online Short Term Course on Disaster Management and Environmental Awareness was inaugurated in the Human Resource Development Centre of Guru Nanak Dev University. This course is organized with the aim to make participants be acquainted with various aspects of disasters like sources, consequences, management and conservation of environment.

Prof. (Dr.) Hardeep Singh OSD to Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University was the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, Prof. Hardeep Singh discussed about the increasing concerns of various environmental issues including natural as well as man-made disasters and the strategies to be opted for mitigating the consequences of various disasters. He stressed upon than that environmental education is mandatory to overcome such challenges. The participants including faculty members and research scholars from different states of the country are attending the course. Prof. Sudha Jitender Director HRDC GNDU welcomed the guests and participants and briefed about various activities of HRDC. Prof. Jatinder Kaur, Course Coordinator and Dr. Inderpreet Kaur Course Co-coordinator discussed about the theme of the course and proposed vote of thanks. The inaugural session was followed by talk on Ecosystem Restoration by Prof. Dr. Renu Bhardwaj Director Research GNDU. Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice Chancellor of the university congratulated the organizers for successful start of the program & wished all the best for successful completion of the course.
