Amritsar, December 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today organized Nagar Kirtan (religious procession) from Sri Akal Takht Sahib dedicated to Prakash Gurpurb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh the tenth Sikh Guru (master).
The Nagar Kirtan was organised under the leadership of Guru Granth Sahib and Panj Piaras (five beloved ones), while Giani Jagtar Singh, head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib performed the service of adorning the holy scripture to the decorated palanquin.
Band and Gatka (Sikh martial arts) parties participated in the Nagar Kirtan and the groups of devotees sang the praises of the Guru. Starting from Akal Takht Sahib, the Nagar Kirtan passed through the route of Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas, Brahm Buta Market, Bazar Mai Sewan, Bazar Kathian, Bazar Papad, Bazar Baans, Chowk Chhatti Khuhi, Chaul Mandi, Dal Mandi, Dhab Vasti Ram, Jorha Pipal, Chowk Lachhmansar, Chowk Babasaheb, Chowk Paragdas and concluded at the start point.
Present in the Nagar Kirtan included SGPC members Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Balwinder Singh Vain Puin, OSD of SGPC President Satbir Singh Dhami, additional secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Gurmeet Singh Buttar, assistant secretary Kuldeep Singh Rode, Lakhbir Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Satnam Singh Mangasarai, Satnam Singh Riar, Sukhraj Singh, Iqbal Singh Mukhi, Jaspal Singh Dhade, Nishan Singh, superintendent Malkeet Singh Beharwal and a large number of devotees participated while chanting Satnam Waheguru.
