Extension lecture on “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome” organized

Chandigarh, February 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Aids Awareness / Public health/Community hygiene & Sanitation Society of P.G.G.C.G Sector-42, Chandigarh organized an Extension lecture on “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome”. In this event, Dr. Apoorva Kulshreshtha MBBS MD Gynaecologist Govt. Multi-Speciality Hospital Sector-16 Chandigarh was the resource person. She provided us such an informative knowledge about concern topic. She emphasized on different causes of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). She told that PCOS affects women’s hormones and this hormonal imbalance causes a women’s body to skip menstrual periods resulting in excessive hair growth and androgen levels. This condition also makes it harder for women to conceive. The delay in diagnosis of PCOS can lead to the progression of comorbidities. Dr. Apoorva also emphasized on Body mass index, Glycemic index and lift style modifications. She concluded her lecture with following quote- “Ask for help. Not because you are weak, but because you want to remain strong”. About 80 participants were attended the talk. Prof. Nisha Aggarwal, Principal of the college appreciated the enthusiasm of all the participants. Mrs. Preet kamal (Convener) of this event thanked the participants for theirparticipation.
