Guru Nanak Dev University welcomes 16 Asian Games athletes
Amritsar, October 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The 16 exceptional athletes of Guru Nanak Dev University represented India at the recently concluded Asian Games in Chengdu, China, held from September 23 to October 8, 2023. Their outstanding performances have brought great pride to the University and the nation. The dedicated and talented University athletes exhibited remarkable skills and sportsmanship, contributing significantly to India’s medal tally at the Asian Games. In total, they secured an impressive 13 medals in various sporting events, showcasing their commitment to excellence and their relentless ursuit of success.
Today, Guru Nanak Dev University honored to welcome these accomplished athletes back to the University. Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor of the University, extends a warm and hearty welcome to the achievers of the University. He recognizes their unwavering dedication and the countless hours of hard work they put into their respective sports, making us all proud.
In addition to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar; Prof. Sarabjot Singh Behl, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Director of Sports also joined in expressing heartfelt pride and congratulations. These athletes have not only brought glory to our institution but have also showcased the immense potential and talent that exists within our University.
Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh said that the University shooters, in particular, have excelled and continued to shine on the world stage. Their achievements stand as a testament to the dedication and rigorous training they have undergone, and they serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes within our University and beyond.
He said that as Guru Nanak Dev University continues to nurture and support sporting talent, committed to providing the necessary resources and guidance to help our athletes achieve even greater heights in their respective fields. The University look forward to celebrating more victories and witnessing our athletes make their mark on the international stage in the years to come.
