Seminar on Multi-Culturism at Khalsa College

Amritsar, Feb. 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Post Graduate Department of Political Science and Public PPN0202201811Administration at Khalsa College today organized a guest lecture on “Multiculturalism”. The guest speaker was Prof. Vitis Cubri Nasks, a prominent socio- anthropologist from Lithuania and visiting Professor at Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is presently studying the phenomenon of migration in Punjab. Prof. Vitis said that migration in context of multicultural identities has generated new debate regarding the Ethnicity and Nationalism.

He also gave his views in context of the multicultural fabric of Balkan states in post- Soviet era. He was of the view that multiculturalism is a reality today and has its political connotations.  Prof. Kuldip Singh from Guru Nanak Dev University, who was guest of honor, while speaking on the issue elaborated to the students about multiculturalism and nationalism in India in present scenario.

Principal Dr. Mehal Singh presided over the function and Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, Head of the Department introduced the guest speakers. The students got enlightened on the issue in post lecture interaction in which a comparison was drawn over the phenomenon of multiculturalism between India and Balkan states.

Prof. Devender Singh conducted the stage and Dr. Sukhjit Singh presented the vote of thanks. Apart from this the faculty members of Political science department and faculty members from other departments of the college were also present.
