Amritsar, Mar. 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – 8th March has been designated to be celebrated as International Women’s Day to empower women with their rights ranging from equal pay to right to equality in justice and opportunities in various fields. Echoing with the theme of this year i.e ‘Time is Now : Rural & Urban activists transforming women’s lives’, the teachers of DAV Public School observed the day in high spirits.
In a special programme, the teachers took a serious note on issues like harassment of women, femicide , lack of opportunities in various fields etc. Talking about such global concerns, the teachers focussed on their role in tackling these issues. Women themselves need to stand for their rights and unite to fight for themselves. It was agreed that a united voice can and will bring the much needed change and being teachers they are in the right capacity to do so.
The teachers also joined in for a little light hearted activity to refresh themselves for the day. They also talked about and appreciated the remarkable contribution of women to our society and celebrated their grit and determination. In the end the teachers gave best wishes to each other and took a vow to bring a change and make the society a harmonious place for young girls and women.
Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College Amritsar sent their best wishes to the teachers on this occasion and encouraged them to be leaders for the cause of women.
Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school while addressing the teachers said that they are the true examples and icons of women empowerment. She added that now is the time to transform the momentum of women empowerment into action and work relentlessly to claim women’s rights and realize their full potential.
