Amritsar, Nov 5 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A ‘Seven-Day National Workshop on Scale Development, Refinement & Construction of Casual Models – An Application of SEM using Variance and Co-Variance Techniques’ was inaugurated here today at the FDC-HRDC under the aegis of the Faculty Development Centre (FDC), allocated to the University under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Training (PMMMNMTT) Scheme by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), New Delhi. 30 participants comprising teachers and research scholars pertaining to the different academic discipline from Punjab and its neighbouring states are participating.
Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean Academic Affairs presided over the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. While highlighting the significance of the Data Analytics, Prof. Behl said that it pervades all the academic disciplines today. The teachers and research scholars pertaining to a wide diversity of disciplines cannot afford to remain aloof from this cognitive faculty. Tracing the history of human civilization since times immemorial, he said that what differentiates the human beings from the animal kingdom is that human mind is bestowed with the cognitive faculty, which has led to, what is, today known as ‘data analytics’.
Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Project Coordinator of the FDC counselled the participants to make a virtue out of the necessity and to actively participate in the programme in order to derive the optimum benefit. Urging them to take hardships, if any, in their stride and to focus towards the lofty goal of augmenting their expertise, competence, knowledge, skills etc., he exhorted. Shedding the light on this ambitious brain-child of the Union MHRD, said that this Scheme can bear fruitful results only with the wholehearted cooperation of the teaching fraternity at large. Prof. Rishi Raj, Associate Dean AA and SW, GNDU Regional Campus, Gurdaspur and the Coordinator of the Workshop apprised the participants with the thrust area of the Workshop, which is of utmost importance for teachers and research scholars, particularly belonging to the faculty of Commerce & Business Management. Earlier, the Chief Guest, Prof. Behl was presented a sapling by Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Prof. Rishi Raj Sharma and Dr. Mohan Kumar. Dr. Vikram Sandhu from University Business School was also present on this occasion.
