Amritsar, June 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – “The Covid-19 lockdown have had the campus closed, but did not affect the teaching “. Thus said Dr. Manju Bala, Director, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Amritsar adding that faculty and staff adopted new ways and technology for online learning to save the academic loss of students.
She said entire faculty was engaged and they tirelessly worked for the academic upliftment of students during the pandemic. She said that syllabus of students was completed online through different e-portals like Google classrooms, Google meets, Zoom, management’s own e-governance system. “A good number of Blooms taxonomy based questionnaires and Multiple Choice Questions are provided for the preparation of final examination too”, she said.
She added that not only this, students were given practical exposure through the virtual labs which is online platform provided by IITs and other top educational notch institutes of India. “The students were regularly motivated to join online mock tests to upgrade their technical skills and it is a matter of pride that 22 students from Department of Computer Science and Engineering and 2 students of Department of Mechanical Engineering have successfully completed their online MOOC e-courses”, she said.
Not only this faculty of the College is fully involved in the online institutional, workshop training which is going on through Google Zoom so that students can be given practical exposure of different softwares. Department of Computer Science and Engineering have also organized webinar for faculty and students.
Training and placement cell is also offering the online counselling, she said adding that recently Online Career Assessment Test was conducted by UPES Insight organization, Dehradun on 10th May 2020 in which more than 230 students of Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology participated.
The students are being given opportunity to join E placement drives conducted by IKGPTU in which almost 200 students of the college have registered. KCET students also participated in E-Fest 2020 organized by DAVIET Jalandhar. College students bagged 3 prizes in different events. She thanked KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, for guidance and infrastructure development in the College.
