GNDU researcher awarded with Best Oral paper presentation award at Malaysia

Amritsar, September 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  Miss Tamanna Bhardwaj an INSPIRE fellow of Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University has been awarded with Best Oral paper presentation award at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during an International conference organised at Universiti Putra Malaysia, recently. The main theme of 7th Asian PGPR International Conference for Sustainable Agriculture was “Regenerating Agriculture through Beneficial Microbes for Improving Crop Productivity and Safety”.

Miss Tamanna has been awarded DST-INSPIRE Fellowship to pursue Ph.D. under supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Renu Bhardwaj presently serving as Director Research of the University.As many as 20 Nations attended the event.

Prof. Renu Bhardwaj said that during the four day conference, more than 50 oral presentations and lead lectures were delivered. The top 5 presentations were selected for the Best oral presentation.The conference was presided over by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries, Government of Malaysia. The Vice Chancellor of University Putra Malaysia, Director General, Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute, Founder & Chairman Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture also graced the inaugural session.

The conference had 130 participants coming from various countries including USA, Spain, the Netherland, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, Australia and Malaysia. The experts emphasised on the use of bio fertilizers including microbes for restoring the fertility of soil. These sustainable technologies will enable better harvest of crops in coming times ensuring food security.
