Artists’ Get-Together held at KT:Kala Museum

Amritsar, October 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A significant get-together of senior artists from Amritsar and the management of the newly formed committee of the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi (PLKA) Chandigarh was held at KT:Kala Museum Amritsar. The event titled “Vichar Vatandra” served as a platform for progressive discussions on various topics related to art promotion in Punjab.

The occasion was graced by PLKA President Mr. Gurdip Dhiman and Secretary Dr. Jaspal Kamana, who made a special trip from Chandigarh to participate. The gathering marked a momentous event for Amritsar, as two of its distinguished personalities Mr. Sumit Dua appointed Vice President and Council Member Mr. Brajesh Jolly were recently nominated to the Council of Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi for the first time. The artists of Amritsar expressed their gratitude and appreciation for this recognition by PLKA.

During the meeting, both Mr. Dhiman and Dr. Kamana shared insights on the major reshuffling within PLKA and highlighted some bold, forward-thinking decisions. They emphasized that the new council is committed to grassroots engagement, aiming to identify and honor artists from all corners of the state. The council is working diligently to compile a directory of artists and artisans and will launch cultural exchange programs across all districts of Punjab.

President Dhiman further conveyed the support of Sawinder Singh Savi, Chairman of the Apex Body of Punjab Arts Council, in fully backing PLKA’s initiatives. Mr. Sumit Dua also outlined several upcoming programs and activities under PLKA.

Before the discussions, Mr. Brajesh Jolly warmly welcomed the President and Secretary with bouquets. The meeting witnessed active participation from senior Amritsar artists, including Dr. Lalit Gopal Parashar, Kulwant Singh Gill, Dharminder Sharma, Narinder Singh, Dr. Mehtab Kaur, Kamaljeet Kaur, Tejwant Singh Chabha, Mala Chawla, H.P Singh, Vinay Vaid, Aman Gill, and Sandeep Singh, all of whom shared valuable ideas for promoting art and culture at the grassroots level in Punjab.

Mr. Dhiman announced that similar discussion meetings would be held in all districts to connect more artists with PLKA. Mr. Dua revealed plans to appoint district-wise coordinators to help expand PLKA’s outreach. He also announced the appointment of Mr. Kulwant Singh Gill and Dharminder Sharma as the Amritsar District Coordinators for PLKA.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Brajesh Jolly, who assured that KT:Kala Museum will play a pivotal role in supporting and promoting PLKA’s future initiatives.
