Amritsar, Dec. 21 (Punjab Post Bureau)- A District level declamation contest was organized at Khalsa College Amritsar by Nehru Yuva Kendra. The District NYK Coordinator Mr. Samson Masih told that this contest on “Patriotism and Nation Building” was organized with the collaboration of Ministry of Youth Welfare and Khalsa College Amritsar. This declamation contest is to be held later at state and national level which includes 57,779 blocks and 623 districts and all the states. The purpose of the contest is to inculcate values of patriotism and feelings of nationalism among the youths. The whole contest is being organized by thousands of volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Youth Club and educational institutions. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh who presided over the function, while distributing the awards to the participants observed that it is hightime that youths who form majority of the population of India must contribute in the process of national building. Jaspreet Kaur, Rohni Puri and Kamaljit Kaur won first, second and third positions respectively. The function was also attended by Prof. Devender Singh, Registrar of the college, Prof. Sukhmeen Bedi, Prof. Surjit Kaur, Prof. Sawan Singh and Principals of the schools from Amritsar district.
