63 Cavalry Diamond Jubilee Cycle Expedition Phase 2 Flagged Off for Amritsar

Alwar, March 3 (Punjab Post Bureau)- To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of 63 Cavalry second phase of the Cycle Expedition was flagged off by Lt Gen KJ Singh, General Officer Commanding in-Chief, Western Command  from Alwar to its final destination Amritsar.  The flagging in of the expedition at Amritsar will be done by Lieutenant Colonel KG Jalnawala (Retd), the senior most veteran of the Regiment on 11 Mar 2016.

            First phase of the Cycle Expedition comprising of one officer, one JCO and 11 other ranks  of 5 Independent Armoured Squadron  started from Bhuj on 13 Feb 2016, covered a distance of 1200 Kms and reached Alwar on 27 Feb 2016.  The team also carried out a camel safari from Sindari to Balotra (Barmer) enroute to Alwar.

            In its quest, the expedition will traverse through the Thar Desert, Aravalis and plains of Punjab and Haryana with an aim to establish a connect with the Regiment’s veterans to rekindle the glorious past and heritage of the Regiment. Enroute, the team will spread the spirit of adventure amongst the local youth and project the visage of Indian Army to inculcate espirit-de-corps and camaraderie for future generations.
