Workshop by “Centre For Dialogue and Reconciliation” at DAV Public School

Amritsar, July (Punjab Post Bureau)- A two day workshop on Ist and 2nd August 2014 “Responsible Citizenship Education ended successfully at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road. The workshop was organized by “Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation under the project” Common Interests and a common Future.” Exploring an Indo–Pak partnership. About 25 teachers from different schools of Amritsar participated in the workshop. Resource persons Ms. Farida Lambay and Ms. Sneha organized interesting activities with primary aim to guide about 4 teaching modules and effectively incorporate them in syllabi and curricula.

The workshop dealt with teaching students to understand how to handle prejudice and discrimination. The workshop aimed at teaching students to resolve conflicts to reach a wise outcome co–operatively. The workshop promoted the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed to bring about behavioral changes that will enable children, youth and adults to prevent conflict and violence and to create the conditions conducive to peace. “Peace Education” was imparted to promote positive relationship and ensure that no one is hurt. Peace is the core of progress, both internal and external.

Regional Director, Amritsar Zone Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women , Lawrence Road and the Manager of the school Dr. K.N. Kaul Principal DAV College, Hathi Gate applauded the efforts of the school for successfully organizing the workshop. They said that Responsible citizenship and peace education is the need of the hour to establish justice and avoid war. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school, appreciated the efforts of facilitators of the workshop and expressed gratitude and said that such workshop help in harmonizing human minds, ensure equality and independence.
