Amritsar, Feb. 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A workshop for primary teachers on ‘Early Childhood Education was organised at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road today. A Counsellor and family Therapist, Mrs. Indu Kaura who has conducted many workshops and training sessions focussing adolescent mental health, parent guidance and counselling , inclusive education etc. The workshop was an interactive one and focussed on enhancing the creativity in teaching the toddlers. She discussed that children should be taught value oriented lessons which would build a positive personality. She suggested that the atmosphere in the class should be genial so that the students get a chance to enhance their creativity and imagination. Many interesting activities were performed during the workshop which could be utilised by the teachers while teaching in the class. She shared her experiences with the teachers and discussed the problems they generally face with young children. She took the teachers on a nostalgic journey where they re–visited their childhood and shared both their positive and negative moments. She said that while the positive memories strengthen us , the negative ones should be taken as a lesson to guide the students through difficult times. Overall the workshop was very educative and informative. She said that a healthy relation between a teacher and a pupil can transform his life drastically and help a child to grow into a healthy, cheerful and disciplined adult. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school showed her gratitude to the resource person, Mrs. Indu Kaura and said that teaching and learning is a continuous process and such workshops form an integral part of the growth of an institution.
