Amritsar, April 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School, Lawrence Road , Amritsar today observed World Health Day in its premises . The theme for this year’s World Health Day is ‘Beat Diabetes’. Dr. Guljeet Kaur Chief Dietician Fortis was the guest speaker invited on this occasion to guide students about the same. She informed the students about the importance of healthy eating. She asked the students to begin their day with healthy breakfast which should include cereals, curd, milk, whole wheat bread and seasonal fruits. She added that is was important to eat seasonal fruits and vegetables to stay healthy. She also talked about maintaining normal body weight and regular physical activity to prevent diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity etc. The school physician, Dr. Manchanda asked the students to bring some simple lifestyle changes like going to bed early, not spending too much time before TV and computer, going for a walk daily, spending quality time with family etc to stay fit. In the end , the students took a pledge to imbibe healthy eating habits and sensitise people around them for the same.
Regional Director , Punjab Zone –A, Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College Amritsar in their message saiadvised the students to maintain a healthy lifestyle for mental and physical fitness. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school said that Yoga is a complete fitness regime which helps a person to stay healthy both physically and mentally.
